At a certain point, it comes down to preference. With regards to braking, it's not rocket science. Bigger rotors, better calipers and hardware= better braking. Decided on the trophy kit. My preference is to have the best that is available that makes sense/maintains quality. Others may shop for the cheapest option that "works", but I guess with the people I hang out with, there's a certain bling factor that must be maintained. I guess I'm a ricer. You could get HRE COMPS, or you could get some Enkeis. Both work. Only one will turn heads cuz of the bling factor though. Of course the HREs have useless little stuff like titanium fasteners etc that make the purchaser feel better about spending thousands, but I do acknowledge that it's baloney. Could settle for some Wilwoods, or even the reg 14 inch StopTechs, but since I need to satisfy the bling need as well without sacrificing quality, I "need" to get the Trophy kit. Will that extra pound off the caliper help me incredibly? Probably not. Doesn't hurt that I'll have the first one for a 300zx, and I will make sure I advertise that for as long as it's true lol. bragging rights. I love bragging rights. As much as I can afford to, I will stick to the option that allows it. I just don't understand saying the "its unnecessary" comments with regards to price. This is a car forum, not the money section in the WSJ. I would be down to do some braking comparisons with some of the systems listed elsewhere in this thread, if the people interested are within reasonable distance and are willing to lend out their calipers for me to use.
